Election Commissioner HS Brahma admitted that it was indifference on the part of poll officers in Maharashtra and apologized to Mumbaikars for the missing names of voters in the electoral roll.

Though there is no clear figure, reports suggest that around 1-6 lakh names were missing from the voter’s list in Mumbai.

Brahma blamed the lapse on the lack of supervision on the ground level. This came a day after thousands of Mumbaikars complained that their names were missing from the voter’s list. As per sources, a PIL will be filed in the Bombay High Court on Monday in connection with this.

In the last phase of polling in Pune, nearly 1 lakh names were reported to be missing. Angry residents protested at the Pune Council Hall. The BJP joined the protests, demanding re-polls in Pune.
