Kolkata: Around 200 miners were stuck in four underground mines of Eastern Coalfields Ltd in West Bengal's Burdwan district on Tuesday because of grid collapse which led to power failure.
ECL sources said the miners who went into the mines in the first shift were stuck when the grid collapsed.
"They were not trapped, but were safe at the pit bottom," the sources said.
"Power has been partially restored and the miners are being taken out. In one of the mines all the miners were evacuated and the rest will be taken out," they said.
