President of the Economic Forum for India at LSE (EFIL), Utkarsh Gupta said that there was no such daylong conference to discuss relevant issues about emerging superpower India across all acclaimed institutions in a key global city such as London.
London School of Economics is one of the top educational institutions in the world. Veterans from the corporate world, economists and professionals have been invited to attend this conference. Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan, Development Credit Bank (DCB) Chairman Nasser Munjee, former Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal (retired) Anil Tipnis, Narayana Health chairman and founder Dr. Devi Shetty, Cobra Beer founder and chairman Lord Karan Bilimoria CBE, Indian High Commissioner to the UK Ranjan Mathai, economist Lord Meghnad Desai, Executive President of Dainik Jagran, Sandeep Gupta, Lalcap Ltd founder Deepak Lalwani OBE and Zomato co-founder Pankaj Chaddah among others will speak on the occasion.
The conference plans to become an annual affair and grow as time progresses. It aims to emulate the established Indian conferences at prestigious universities such as Harvard and Wharton Business School of the United States. The organising committee believes that such a conference was much needed in a university like LSE and more importantly, London.
The conference will be inaugurated by Ranjan Mathai, which will be followed by a morning session on economics and later, an evening session on Bollywood and Politics.
In the morning session, there will be a panel discussion on the topic ‘Entrepreneurship and Industry’, ‘Growth and Finance’, under the stewardship of Dr. Bishnupriya Gupta and Deepak Lalwani respectively.
There will be an interactive session with Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan after lunch.
In the evening session, there will be a panel discussion on ‘Politics and Elections’, which will feature Lord Desai and renowned Professor Sumantra Bose.
The function would be concluded with the speech of Air Chief Marshal (retired) Anil Tipnis on India’s future in defence and security.
