Dharamshala, Feb 01 (Jagran News Network): Not convinced by the explanation given to various investigating authorities, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials reached the Karmapa monastery on Tuesday, in a bid to crack more clues in the Rs 6 crore cash scam that has hit the Buddhist monastery.

The team is likely to question Karmapa Lama Ogyen Trinley Dorje on the issue. This will be the second time that he will be put to grilling.

The ED team, led by a director level official, has been searching for more clues and factual account or record that confirms the sources of recovered money - if these were from donations or collected through any other illegal means.

The team is also looking into claims of the monastery officials that they are not allowed to deposit money in banks and the violation of Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) by the monastery.

Apart from ED, police have also quizzed the Dharamsala hotelier and the Ambala banker again in connection with the one crore rupees seized last week—money that was evidently paid by the Karmapa's monastery.

Meanwhile, Garry Dolma, the Deputy Speaker of Tibetan Parliament, said, “Karmapa is innocent… We do not doubt his integrity and we do not believe he has anything to do with Republic of China… I request media not to jump into conclusion.”

Many Tibetans carried out a march in Dharamsala to express support for their spiritual leader who is considered as the second most senior figure after the Dalai Lama himself.
