New Delhi: Difficulties for DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi and his family in the 2G spectrum case refuse to die down. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is already investigating the case whether Shahid Balwa owned Swan Telcom Limited had given Rs 214 crore to Kalaignar TV. And now the Enforcement Directorate has information that a loan of Rs 50 crore was given to Kalaignar TV by S Tel owner S Shivshankar.

However, the ED suspects that the money given to Kalaignar TV was a sort of bribe in the 2G spectrum case.

A high official of ED has said that the Shiva Group owned by S Shivashankar is also under scanner. It is pertinent to mention that Aircel Company was also a part of Shiva Group which was later sold to the owners of Apollo Hospital.

In 2007, during the allocation of 2G spectrum Shiva Group through its High-Tech Housing Projects managed funds for S Tel. It is said that after S Tel got the licence of 2G spectrum, it completely took charge of this company.

Interestingly, High-Tech Housing Projects had given Rs 50 crore to Sahara Group and Mauritius based Telecom Investment Company which later reached the Kalaignar TV in form of loan. So, ED is investigating the involvement of all these companies and the processing of Rs 50 crore.

The CBI has already questioned Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s wife Dayalu and daughter Kanimozhi in connection of Kalignagar TV receiving Rs 200 crore.

ED is also investigating the 9.9 percent share of Reliance Telecom in Swan Telecom bought by the Mauritius based DELFI Investment company.

Interestingly, the company was formed on October 15, 2007, just one and a half months before the deal was finalised. They are also trying to find the real owners of the company.
