New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is gearing up to quiz Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sudhanshu Mittal in connection with overlays contract during Commonwealth Games (CWG). The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has already grilled him twice this week in the same case.

Allegations have been levelled against the Deepali Designs owned by Sudhanshu Mittal’s nephew Vinay Mittal for its alleged involvement in the scam.

The ED is investigating into the matter under the Money Laundering Act.

It is worth mentioning that out of total contract worth Rs 680 crore, a contract worth Rs 230 crore was awarded to the consortium of Deepali Designs and Hong Kong based Pico International.

The investigating officials believe that Sudhanshu Mittal was instrumental in awarding the contract to Deepali-Picko.

In fact, Sudhanshu Mittal joined as the Director of Deepali Designs in February 2010 and quit after a period of five months.

Meanwhile, Suresh Kalmadi led CWG Organizing Committee awarded the contract worth Rs 230 crores to Deepali-Picko.

The CBI has questioned Mittal for his alleged involvement in awarding the contract to the company floated by his nephew. However, the probe agency kept mum over filing chargesheet against Mittal.

The ED is preparing for registering Mittal’s statements under the Money Laundering Act.
