London: Funnyman Eddie Murphy says he is hesitant to make his stand-up comedy comeback because preparing a brand new act for the stage is time-consuming.

The 50-year-old began his career in show business on the stand-up circuit and is regularly ranked among the top 10 greatest comics of all time.

The 'Shrek' star has not performed live for several years and Murphy admits he is simply too lazy to put in all the hard work.

"I'm not nervous. You know what it is? It takes a year-and-a-half to a year to get an act together and I'm more lazy than nervous. But it takes a year and a half of going to the comedy clubs and test the material," Murphy said.
