London: The 'Nutty Professor' star Eddie Murphy has received the kid’s choice award for his animated character in the 'Shrek' series on his birthday.

Eddie who gave the voice of Donkey in ‘Sherk’ accepted the award for the Favourite Voice in an Animated Movie at the ceremony in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Eddie Morphy, who turned 50 on Sunday, said, "Thank you for liking Shrek. This is like an early birthday present".

The actor is now working on his latest film Tower Heist, in which he stars alongside Ben Stiller, Matthew Broderick and Casey Affleck. The film is set for release in autumn 2011.
