"The state has vast potential of wind energy and wind masts have been installed at Bidda in Reasi district and Tata Pani in Rajouri, and some places have also been identified in Ladakh to tap this potential for energy generation," he said. The minister was speaking after inaugurating the 50 KWp solar photovoltaic power plant at Hajj House in Jammu.

Installed over the rooftop of the Haj complex, the power plant has been set up under the Jawahar Lal Nehru Solar Mission at a cost of Rs 1.35 crore with Union New & Renewable Energy Ministry contributing 90 percent of the project cost.

The Ministry will look after the operation and maintenance of the project for a specific period. The plant will provide uninterrupted power supply to the Hajj House, visited by people especially the Haj pilgrims, for temporary stay.
