Some of them are of the commander-rank, twenty of them surrendered in Kondagaon district alone.

The Naxals who surrendered on Monday were fed up with the ‘exploitation and excesses’ to which senior leaders subjected them as well as the local villagers, said Kondagaon Additional Superintendent of Police Surjit Atri.

Those who surrendered on Monday are Saanu (25), Gagru (50), Ganjo (55) and Aaytu (35) who were members of Barda `local operation squad', Satau Naag (26), Daya Kalar (22) and Mansharam (30) who were active in Kulanaar region, Shobhrai (33) who was active in Barda region.

All of them were active in the Naxal movement for the last about ten years and were involved in blasts, attacks on government installations, arson, etc, Atri said.

He said these cadres claimed that senior Naxal leaders from Andhra Pradesh sexually exploited the tribal women and girls and also extorted money from the locals.
