New Delhi: It is good tidings for senior citizens and economically weaker section of society that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has decided to deposit pensions directly in their bank accounts. They will not have to go from pillar to post for their pension.
BJP state president Vijender Gupta had proposed this idea to the MCD which was accepted by the authority on the last day of the Gandhi fair.
MCD Commissioner KS Mehra said that officers have been issued instruction for preparation in this regard. Pensioners have to submit their bank account number with MCD's zonal office. The pensions will be transferred directly to their bank accounts every month.
“This new system will help in building transparency and complaints of delayed process of disbursing pension will also be addressed,” he said.
Till date, pensions were being doled out through cheques, which caused several problems.
