Shimla: The Chief Election Commission has directed Himachal Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to take immediate action on complaints regarding pressurising of postal ballot voters.
In a communication, the CEC said that the Commission has received complaints against some candidates and parties that efforts are being made to influence the postal ballot voters.
"All the Returning Officers are directed to act immediately in case of any such complaint. Some complaints have been received that efforts are being made by some candidates to woo the postal ballot voters,” the CEC said.
Elections were held for 68-member Himachal Pradesh assembly on November 4 but the postal ballots can be cast up to December 20, the date of counting.
Some of the candidates have also complained that several persons on duty have not received the postal ballots. Himachal Pradesh has recorded 73.92 percent polling this time.
