Lucknow: With Uttar Pradesh gearing up for next year’s Assembly elections, the Central Election Commission has also hastened poll preparations for the state. To speed up the poll process, State’s Chief Electoral Officer Umesh Sinha has directed the office to accomplish the voter photo ID card survey by June end.

In order to discuss the issue and review the preparations, Sinha has convened a meeting of the district officials next week. The strategies for the upcoming elections will be reviewed in the meeting and discussion on the conditions of electronic voting machines (EVMs) will also be held.

According to the CEO, preparations for the next year state elections have commenced on a large scale.

“After a substantial survey, booth level preparations will begin. In the last four years several infrastructural changes have been made in more than 1.25 lakh voting venues and the roads leading to them,” he said.

If the population of any region has gone up then arrangements have been made to meet the changes, he added.
