Los Angeles: Singer Elton John has raised over USD 6 million for charity, thanks to his celebrity guests. His charity, The Elton John Aids Foundation, received numerous donations from celebrity guests at his 21st Annual Academy Awards Viewing Party to raise the amount, reports a website.

Musician Steven Tyler helped the cause by auctioning off a week at his holiday home in Hawaii for the highest bidding attendee, and John himself raised over 27,232 pounds by offering to perform five songs at the lucky winner's home.

Other stars, who helped, included "Les Miserables" actor Hugh Jackman, who was the co-chair at the party, and British singer Emeli Sande, who put on a show for guests.

John started his charity in 1992. Since then, he raised more than USD275 million for HIV/AIDS charities.
