Kochi: In what comes as a major embarrassment for the Navy, the Kerala Police have registered a case against ten naval officers at the Southern Naval Command (SNC) on a sexual harassment complaint filed by the wife of a lieutenant.

According to reports, a case has been registered under IPC against officers including woman's husband. In her complaint filed with the Harbour police station, the 26-year-old woman, hailing from Odisha, said that her husband and his senior colleagues had beaten her and sexually harassed also.

The lieutenant’s wife in her complaint alleged that her husband forced her to sleep with many senior officials to seek promotion and other benefits. She also accused one of the officers of injecting her with a drug.

According to Harbour Police, a case has been registered against 10 officers, under Sections 498 and 354 based on the complaint filed on April 4.

The officer’s parents and his sister have also been listed as accused. Going by the reports, the woman had also complained that her husband and in-laws had been torturing her for dowry.

According to a Defence release, “the Navy will cooperate with the investigation to clear the name of the officers who intervened in the line of duty to resolve the domestic discord of a young officer."

The woman got married to the officer in 2012 at Visakhapatnam.
