Australia: As tough and stressful economic times affect hiring intentions, employers are looking for staff with resilience and perseverance as tough, a new study has revealed. Almost half of the employers surveyed by recruitment firm Hudson say that adverse economic conditions have affected the attributes they're looking for in high-performing staff.

They were now looking for staff with qualities like openness to change, resilience to stress and perseverance.

Hudson Asia-Pacific chief executive Mark Steyn said that staff with those qualities would be in high-demand.
"Many employers believe the tough economic environment has changed the skills their people need to be high performers," a website quoted Mr Steyn as saying in a statement.

"Being resilient and open to change are now among the most desirable attributes - people with these qualities are in demand regardless of hiring sentiment," he said.

For the study, Hudson surveyed 3,832 Australian employers about their hiring intentions for the September quarter.
