Lucknow: The Training and Employment Exchange Department is all set to become hi-tech by using Short Message Service (SMS) to inform the registered unemployed about job alerts. Presently, more than 19 lakh unemployed persons are registered with the 92 offices of Employment Exchange in the state.

According to reports, employment exchange has decided to feed the details of jobless youths in computer, thereafter all 92 offices will be connected online. After getting the online information about job vacancies, the department will forward the details to unemployed youths through SMS. The unemployed persons will have the luxury of submitting the form online.

The proposed move will come as a major respite to the unemployed youths and exchange offices as well. Presently, the correspondence is done through postcards and the records are maintained in files, which takes a lot of time. At times, youths get the information late and as a result they fail to appear in the concerned test.

The use of SMS will help in reaching out to the maximum number of unemployed youths by putting in minimal efforts. The project is likely to start in the coming six months.
