Bengaluru (JPN/Bureau): Coming down heavily on violation of its ambush marketing clause, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has asked India skipper MS Dhoni to stop promoting companies which have no association with the World Cup.

Dhoni endorses an electronic brand and a cell phone which are rivals of ICC Cricket World Cup 2011’s sponsors.

Both ICC and BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) have taken a note of it and have reprimanded Dhoni on the matter.

ICC has expressed displeasure over banners of HMT watches, which has no association with cricket’s apex body, that were displayed at the Chinnaswamy stadium during India’s first warm-up game against defending champions Australia.

Also, Indian jerseys sold at merchandise store are not the original ones. The fake jerseys are sold in association with a rival brand with the World Cup logo.
