Jaipur: The week-long endurance test of upgraded model of Russian built T-72 tank 'Ajay' has begun at the Lathi firing range in Jaisalmer. Scientists have developed this fighter tank indigenously.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) officials confirmed that in order to assess the capacity of fighter tank; the endurance testing process has been conducted under the supervision of DRDO and Russian scientists. The trial of the modified tank started two days back.

Scientists have made significant changes in this T-72 fighter tank which was used in the war of 1965 and 1971.

Although Russia has ousted the tank from its military fleet, the Indian scientists keeping in mind Ajay’s outstanding performance decided to modify it.

It is reported that scientists installed an engine of high power in T-72 tank. Apart from this, formal imagine fire control has also been installed.
