Rohtak: Depressed over registration of a case against him on the charge of adopting unfair means in exam, an engineering student ended his life by hanging himself in his room in Bahu Akbar Pur village here on Tuesday, police said.

The deceased, a B.Tech (Mechanical) student, has been identified as Praveen Kumar who was in the last semester of the course at Sat Priya College of Engineering.

A purported suicide note has been recovered from the room in which Praveen said he was committing suicide owing to registration of Unfair Means Case against him on the charge of cheating, police said.

"I am dejected after the incident hence and is ending my life," said Praveen in the suicide note, according to police.

The incident came to light when Praveen did not come out of the room till late this morning. His family members found the door of his room bolted from inside when they went there to wake him up.

They broke open the door and found Praveen hanging with a rope in the room.

The police sent the body to PGIMS for postmortem examination.

"No case has so far been registered in this regard as the suicide note has been sent to experts for ascertaining the out authenticity of the note," said Narender, Investigative Officer (IO) of the case.
