New Delhi: Eight students of Dhaneswar Rath Institute of Engineering and Management Studies (DRIEMS) have gone on an indefinite hunger strike to protest against the college authority's decision to expel them from writing the final examinations of the third year.

Students alleged that on May 19, a group of students had staged protest in the campus demanding morning college. During the protest, agitators suddenly turned violent. Penalty was imposed on over 150 students involved in the incident, but the college authorities have exempted all those students and debarred only eight.

Students also alleged that they had also begged apology from the authorities but they are in no mood to listen to their appeals.

However, the college authorities have refuted the allegations by saying it has not discriminated against anyone as these eight students were leading the students group that had vandalized the college campus on May 19.
