New Delhi: Often there are talks on the safety of women in the country, but somehow crime against men does not attract due attention. It is rather intriguing to see that, crime against men is constantly on the rise and crime against women is on the wane.

According to the national statistics of last five years, murder men outnumbered women. Only 25.5 percent of murder victims were women. Situation is same in cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi.

Out of total number of murder cases in Delhi, 78 percent of them are killing of men. Under the RTI, the Union Home Ministry has provided the data. It is evident from the cases registered between 2007 to 2011 that crime against men is also prevalent in Union Territories.

Uttar Pradesh tops the list for highest number of murder cases of men. In total, 24,407 people were killed in Uttar Pradesh, 15,959 in Bihar and 14,239 in Maharashtra.

According to RTI activist Debashis Bhattacharya, people are not safe even in Metropolitan cities.
