Amritsar: If anyone has a passion to win in his or her life, nothing can deter such a person from doing so. Vikas Kumar a resident of Amritsar, is one such example who has become a source of inspiration for others after winning the National championship in Lawn –tennis a game generally considered to be associated with the people of affluent society.

During All India Tennis Association match, unfortunately his racket got broken in the midway of tournament but he did not lose courage and went on to emerge victorious while playing with a borrowed racket from his team mate.

Recently, a national level tennis talent tournament was organised by the Punjab State Lawn Tennis Association in which tennis players from eleven states took part.

Vikas is a student of class ix of DAV senior secondary. His father Bansi Ram is a grounds man in Maharaja Ranjit Singh Tennis Complex.

His father Bansi Ram said that Vikas had started coming to the lawn tennis complex when he was just in class one. While watching others playing tennis he took a firm decision that he would make a great tennis player one day. He borrowed money from others to purchase a racket.

He further said that unluckily, tennis racket he was playing with, broke in –course of the game but he remained undeterred and borrowed a racket from another player and  further went on to win the tournament.
