Ajmer(JPN/Bureau): Hint of significant gold deposits have been found in the Richmalia village of Ajmer district in Rajasthan. The deposits are believed to be world-class and possibility of  commercial production can be seen within a decade or so.

State Geological programming Board has planned extensive research and survey in the next financial year.

India is the biggest importer of gold in the world, buying 470 tonnes per year. The closure of the Kolar gold fields in Karnataka had led to dwindling domestic yield and rising import bills. Currently, gold is found only in the Hutty mines of Karnataka with an annual yield of about two tonnes. The annual yield from the Jagpura mines is estimated to be in the range of eight tonnes.
