"Is it not an act of vendetta designed to scuttle my chances of becoming director of the CBI?" Mishra asked.
Mishra, a 1977 batch Odisha cadre IPS officer and presently posted as the special secretary, internal security under the Ministry of Home Affairs, also raised question on the state government's intention of filing a case against him after a gap of five years.
"I had never imagined that they would stoop so low to prevent an Odia officer from becoming the CBI chief," he said and wondered as to how the state government made him the DGP in 2012 if he was under the vigilance scanner for his stint as the head of the Odisha Police Housing and Welfare Corporation (OPHWC) during 2006-2009.
"There is no mention of me anywhere in the audit report on the basis of which the case against me has been apparently registered," he pointed out.
Mishra said he was not given an opportunity to present the case. The senior cop also questioned why the audit was done only for the period when he was CMD of (OPHWC) and not for the period of his predecessor or successor.
