Ranchi: Former Ranchi Mayor Rama Khalkho was remanded to police custody on Thursday by a special vigilance court to question her role in the alleged cash-for-votes case.
Delivering the order, Judicial Magistrate ARK Sinha allowed the police to take Khalkho in remand for three days.
Khalkho had on Tuesday surrendered before court, which had sent her to 14 days judicial remand.
She had been absconding after the CJM's court had issued arrest warrants on April 9 following an FIR lodged against her and two others following seizure of Rs 21.9 lakh from a hotel on April 7 where the three were allegedly present.
The FIR mentioned that the money was allegedly kept for electoral malpractice, leading the State Election Commission to scrap the April 8 mayoral elections.
The two other persons, arrested in this case have been identified as Niranjan Shah and Sudhir Kumar Sahu.
