New Delhi: In what can bring a smile to the ex-Army men, the Defence Ministry has convinced the Home ministry to fill 10 percent of the Group-B posts in Paramilitary Forces by recruiting ex-servicemen.

Following which, 10 percent of nearly 5,000 vacancies in the ranks of Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors in the Para-military forces would now be filled by ex-servicemen. This was informed by Defence Minister AK Antony at a meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee on Thursday.

"Home Ministry has agreed to fill 10 percent of the Group-B posts in Paramilitary Forces from among the ex-servicemen," Antony said.

Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors come under Group-B posts posts in the Para-military forces and the recruitment for the particular group starts from the Sub-Inspector level.

On placement of ex-servicemen in public and private sectors, Antony said, “Efforts are now being made to persuade public sector undertakings and the private sector to tap the invaluable reservoir of talented and disciplined ex-servicemen.”

On the long-pending demand of 'One Rank One Pension' for the ex-servicemen, he said that the government is working towards the issue in a sincere manner.
