AAP on Friday launched massive all-India membership drive with an aim to expand its footprint across the nation. If sources are to be believed, Shoaib Iqbal is preparing to contest 2014 polls from Old Delhi’s Chandni Chowk constituency on AAP ticket.

Shoaib Iqbal, who had parted ways from Lok Janshakti Party to join Nitish Kumar’s JD-U ahead of Delhi Assembly polls, met Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday and expressed his desire to join AAP. After the meeting, the JD-U MLA from Matia Mahal said that it is not his own decision to switch loyalty, adding that people of the constituency want him to join AAP.

The party, however, remained non-committal over welcoming him into the party-fold. Arvind Kejriwal said that final decision would be taken after consultations with the other party leaders.

Notably, it was on October 30 when Shoaib Iqbal along with four other LJP members, Khurram Iqbal, Rakesh Kumar and Aalay Mohammad and Imran Hussain, joined JD-U to contest Delhi Assembly elections. Iqbal was the only JD-U candidate to win the assembly polls last December. After the Delhi Assembly election results were announced, he extended unconditional support to AAP to form the government.
