Earlier this year, Facebook bought mobile messaging service WhatsApp for USD 19 billion and Oculus VR for USD 2 billion.

Facebook has confirmed to the media that the Moves deal is “nowhere near the size of other acquisitions the company has made in recent months”.

According to the Moves developer ProtoGeo, the application has been downloaded four million times for iPhone and Android phones since its launch in January 2013.

Moves continues to operate separately from the social networking website Facebook.
