As per charity analysts, donations made a comeback in 2013 as wealthiest donors giving more than USD 3.4 billion to charity. The gifts were lot more than expected and broke records of previous years as well.

Mark Zuckerberg and Chan gave 18 million shares, worth more than USD 990 million, of Facebook stock to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation in December 2013. 

With this, Zuckerberg became the first person of less than 30 years of age to top annual charitable giving list, which was released by the Chronicle of Philanthropy.

Phil Knight was placed second position in this list with USD 500 million pledge to the Oregon Health and Science University Foundation.
