New Delhi: Palika Bazaar at Connaught Place is finally ready with its swanky look. The first underground market of the country has been up-graded with the state-of art installations.

Delhi’s Chief Minster Sheila Dikshit has been invited for the formal inauguration of Palika Bazaar.
The New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) took upon the task of revamping the underground market in 2007 as part of its upgradation during Commonwealth Games-2010. But due to delay in placing escalators, Palika Bazaar could not be renovated within the stipulated time.

Now the air-conditioning system has been improved and CCTV cameras have also been installed at the key points in the market.

According to Palika Bazaar Association president Baljit Singh Kohli, despite delays, the work is finally over which has given a new look to the market.

NDMC spokesperson Anand Tiwary said work has almost been completed.

Despite mall culture becoming popular in the country, people including foreign tourists throng Palika Bazaar daily.
