The outcome of meeting, however, is yet unknown but sources claimed that the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has dispatched a senior minister to find facts in the case involving the Minister.

Nihalchand and 16 others were named in an FIR lodged by a 24-year-old married woman from Jaipur. In the FIR filed in 2011, she alleged that the accused had sexually exploited her. A Jaipur court has also asked Nihalchand and others to appear before it on August 20 in connection with the case.

Earlier on Thursday, Nihalchand had met Law Minister Ravishankar Prasad in New Delhi upraised him of the current status about the case.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) defended Nihalchand, MP from Ganganagar constituency in Rajasthan, stating that Congress leaders have plotted against him.

"There is no question of Nihalchand's resignation as it is Congress leaders' conspiracy," BJP's state unit president Ashok Parnami said.

The saffron party is facing criticism from several quarters for not taking action against Nihalchand.

Nihalchand is the only MP from Rajasthan in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet.
