Rajinikanth used to work as a bus conductor in Bangalore. Later, he went to Madras Film Institute to pursue his career in acting, which he always wanted to do. The superstar in the making received no support from his family.



During his struggling days, it was his friend Raj Bahadur who extended support to Rajinikanth. Tamil film director K Balachander noticed Rajinikanth during a stage performance this was his turning point in his life.



Three of Rajinikanth's fans died in an accident on their way back after celebrating his birthday in Chennai 22 years ago, since then the megastar celebrates his birthday outside the city.

Rajinikanth has many awards and titles in his kitty and one amongst them is that he is the first Indian actor to have worked in films using different camera technologies like black-and-white, colour, 3D and motion capture.



Considered as God in the south film industry, Rajinikanth is in fact a Maharashtrian. The superstar has worked in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi and Bengali films except Marathi film, his mother tongue.

Rajinikanth is the highest paid actor in India and the second highest in Asia. If reports are to believed after the success of Sivaji, Rajinikanth became the highest-paid Asian actor after Jackie Chan.



Last but not the least, Rajinikanth's film Enthiran is the only Tamil film that made it into IMDb's Top 50 movies from around the world list in year 2010.

The film has also been included as a case study in an IIM-A postgraduate course – Contemporary Film Industry: A Business Perspective. However, the sci-fi Enthiran is also the highest grossing Indian film of all time.
