New Delhi: The Delhi Police Crime Branch has busted an admission racket and arrested three people for selling fake caste certificates and helping at least 12 students get admission in top notch colleges.

The gang of Himanshu Gupta (26), Vikash (24) and Ketan Gupta (24) is said to have taken Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh for each admission. Police have recovered 12 fake caste certificates, admission forms and two cars from them.  

The mastermind of the racket, Himanshu Gupta, is a son of a Merchant Navy officer and has been into this business for the past four years. According to the police, Himanshu was arrested outside Hansraj College of the North Campus area when he was helping a girl in admission, who had scored 91 percent in the examination. A bank draft for the girl’s enrollment and a fake Gujjar caste certificate were recovered from his possession.

As per the initial investigation, the police have revealed that there are 30 cases of such fake admissions. After the interrogation, police held Vikash from Pusp Vihar and Ketan from Mehrauli.
