Chandigarh: Fake currency with face value of Rs 12 lakh has been seized following the arrest of two men from Uttam Nagar in Hisar.

Police had recovered fake currency notes with a face value of Rs four lakh from a car at Barwala Chowk in Hisar and arrested the suspect Rajesh Fauji, a resident of Puthi, district Hisar and another person Rampal, about 10 days ago.

The police also recovered a gun and 22 cartridges from Rajesh Fauji’s possession, a spokesman of the State Police Department said today.

He said that during interrogation the police recovered fake currency notes with face value of Rs eight lakh from wheat storage tank in his house.

"Till now fake currency of about Rs 12 lakh (face value) has been seized by the police. The police is investigating at various places in Punjab following the tip off provided by the accused," he said.

He said that so far nine cases had been registered against the accused in different police stations of New Delhi and Haryana which included offences of dacoity, attempt to murder, rape, theft and fraud.
