Chakradhrapur (Singhbhum): Under the aegis of West Singhbhum District Magistrate, the government officials presented fake picture of development work in the state in front of Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh.

As per the documents submitted by the administrative authorities, project taken by Irrigation Department to dig 17 ponds have been completed. However, the ground reality portrays different picture as none of the work has been done so far.

Surprisingly, the officials have presented a balance sheet with complete investment of the fund. When Dainik Jagran investigated the matter, it found that none of the proposed ponds have been dug, beautification of ghats has yet not commenced and no arrangements have been done for the evacuation of water. In many of the projects only 25-50 percent of the work has been completed.

More so, the contractors assigned with the projects have received 50 to 80 percent of the payment despite incomplete work. According to one of the contractors, “We sought extra time to complete the task. If the department has registered the work completed, we should get our remaining payment at the earliest.”
