New Delhi:  Director of flight operations, R S Passi was relieved of his duties on Tuesday over charges of nepotism in connection with the fake pilot scam.

Passi allegedly put undue pressure on a private airline to appoint his daughter, Garima Passi, as a pilot. He has been transferred to another department till the investigation into the scam gets over.

According to Delhi Police, some important files have been found missing from the department of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

“It may involve those officials and employees who are involved in the fake pilot scam,” said the police, adding that these files contained information of three such pilots.

In the fake pilot scam, 14 people including one senior official and two employees of DGCA have been arrested so far from Delhi and Rajasthan.

According to sources, Garima received training for pilot from a US-based flying school. She was removed from her flight training from the flying school after an evaluation report brought to light behind her channel appointment. The moment the fake pilot scam picked up momentum, the Directors’ daughter resigned.

“It seems he is only involved in helping her daughter to get a job and does not have an involvement in the fake scam racket and that’s why no FIR has been registered against him,” the source added.
