Noida: After Noida extension, it is the turn of Noida farmers to rake up their demand for a higher compensation on their acquired land. Their efforts have been prompted by the recent Allahabad High Court order which has annulled the land acquired by the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA).

With farmers of six villages jointly staging a protest in Sector 74 from Wednesday last, the construction work carried out in the different areas of Noida may be brought to an abrupt halt in the coming few days.

Issuing a word of caution to Noida Authority, the farmers have threatened to disrupt the construction work in Sectors-74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 115, 121, 52 and 34, if their demand for a higher compensation was not soon met.

Under the banner of Kisan Sangharsh Samiti, farmers from Soharkha, Kakrola, Garhi, Parthala, Hoshiyarpur and Barola sat on a protest against the Authority.

Officer on Special Duty to Noida Authority, Ajay Srivastava assured them of higher compensation but the farmers demanded for a written assurance.

The delegation of farmers handed over a memorandum containing their 21 demands to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Noida Authority.
