Jammu: The removal of Dr Mustafa Kamal from key post of National Conference has ignited a major controversy in Jammu and Kashmir. A former additional general secretary of NC, Kamal was sacked from the post by his brother and party chief Farooq Abdullah after the former's statement on Rahul Gandhi.

Annoyed over the party action, Kamal’s sister Begum Khalida raised her voice over this issue. Awami National Conference chief Khalida said, “This is the reward that Mustafa is getting for speaking the truth, and on similar charges GM Shah Government in the state was also removed.”

While speaking to mediapersons, she said, “My party will interact with the public to eradicate corruption. Also, we will launch a Goodwill Campaign.”

Referring to the formation of a commission of inquiry set up for probing the circumstances leading to the alleged custodial death of National Conference worker Syed Mohammad Yusuf, Khalida said, “It will not derive any result, as many such commissions have been constituted in the past.”

In the past one year, more than hundred lives have been claimed, many cases of assaults have been reported, but nothing happened. So we cannot trust any commission, she added.

On removal of the Armed Force Special Power Act she said, “The Act has only demerits so it should be removed immediately.”
