Shimla: In a bid to raise their voice against the FDI, the Rajya Vyapar Mandal of state traders has called for a Himachal bandh on December 1.

The decision was taken in a meeting presided by state president OP Saini who believes that by giving a nod to the FDI, the government is encouraging foreign companies at the cost of national brands.

Flaying the Central government, he said, “Like the East India Company took over India, the Central government is also trying to give away the country in the hands of foreign companies.”

As per the government's decision it has been decided to allow up to 51 percent foreign equity in multi-brand retailing and 100 percent in the single-brand format.

State general secretary of the organisation Jai Kumar even urged the government to reverse its decision on FDI in retail to help the trader survive in the country.
