Kolkata: Keeping in mind the possibilities of an untoward incident before the two-day bandh called by the Maoist groups in West Bengal, the state police team and security forces have remained on a high alert. Annoyed by the elimination of Kishenji, the Maoists have called for a two day bandh starting from December 4.

The security forces have not ruled out a Maoist attack before or during the two-day bandh. Fearing a backlash from the red terror outfit, security has been increased in the three Maoist dominated districts of west Midnapore, Purulia and Bakunda which are under the Junglemahal area.

Meanwhile, the security forces are trying hard to arrest the top Maoist leaders before the bandh.

According to the Home department information, after the Maoist attack in Latehar in Jharkhand, the state police has fortified the security arrangements in railway station, trains, police stations and government offices.
