Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Congress has complained to the Chief Election Commissioner about a feast on May 29 at Gangleshwar temple in Maheshwar area, where two lakh people were served food.

The Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Congress media department, Manak Agarwal in a complaint to the CEC said that serving food like this was a gross violation of the election code of conduct as a by election is slated to be held for the Maheshwar assembly constituency on June 12.

Manak said that the election commission should enforce a strict ban on such things and demanded that the Rs two crore spent on the food should be included in the election expenses of the BJP nominee for Maheshwar, Rajkumar Mev.

He said there was no truth in the BJP claim that food was served on a religious occasion.

Manak said such food had never been served in the same temple in the past.
