Lucknow:The Chairman of the National Commission for the Scheduled Castes (NCSC) PL Punia has demanded a thorough probe by an outside agency  in connection with the Rs 700 crore fee scam in Uttar Pradesh.

Punia made it clear that if the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is not going to investigate the case, then the CB-CID should probe the matter.
He also raised questions that how come the members of the Commission are investigating the case since they are also accused and party to the case.
He said that the deserving candidates in the Commission did not get their due,but unfortunately a scam arises out of it to the tune of several crores of rupess. The newly elected Chief Minister of the UP state Akhilesh Yadav should properly look into the matter and take stern action against the accused involved in the case, whosoever it be.
It is remarkable that Technical and Management institutes top the list where such scams have come to light.

A large number of students from Schedule Castes (SC) have been shown on the paper to be enrolled in these institutes.

Due to rampant corruption in these institutes thousands of students are loitering for scholarships and other allowances.

Officials of Social Welfare Department are supposed to be hand in glove in the entire exercise.

NCSC has taken a strong exception to the fact that those officials of the concerned department who had accepted 15-20 pc booty have been engaged in preparing the report on the scam in higher education.

Punia said that he had got the FIR lodged in 365 cases during his tenure as Commissioner Social Welfare department and total 18 crore was refunded to the state government exchequer.
