Argentine Gonzalo Nunez, 35, was shot in the leg and was later discharged from hospital. During the first two weeks of the tournament, Argentine, Chilean and Colombian fans have clashed leading to ugly incidents.

FIFA is also worried after 85 Chilean fans were arrested for gate crashing into the media centre of the Maracana Stadium.

FIFA is now considering separate entrances and exits for the fans of both teams and banning alcohol in sports facilities. FIFA spokesperson, Delia Fischer said that such procedures will apply in certain matches only.

Some 3,000 policemen were deployed during France-Ecuador match at Maracana Stadium on Wednesday. Doubts are also being raised whether Brazilian authorities will be able to handle the World Cup final at the same stadium if it will be played between Brazil and Argentine.
