Chandigarh: Haryana Town and Country Planning Department has notified the final Development Plan 2025 for Ambala, which is proposed to be made applicable to the controlled areas declared outside the towns of Ambala City and Ambala Cantonment.

The development plan was necessitated to channelise urban growth in a planned manner and check unauthorized constructions that are coming up on the outskirts of Ambala City along Ambala-Hissar, Delhi-Ambala-Amritsar and Ambala-Naraingarh roads, a spokesman of the Department said here today.

He said that although earlier the final development plan of these controlled areas was notified by Town and Country Planning Department for a population of 2,00,000 by 2001 and controlled areas were declared around both the towns separately, yet their boundaries have merged into each other on the south-east and north-west sides after declaration of additional controlled areas part-I and part-II around Ambala Cantonment.

Even the spontaneous growth-taking place on the fringes of both the towns has merged into each other on the south-west side, he said.
