Srinagar: A huge crowd of family members and well wishers waved an emotional goodbye to the first batch of 806 Haj pilgrims at Srinagar airport that left on Monday for Jedah. On the occasion, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah appealed the pilgrims to pray for peace at the holy Ziarat.

 A Haj official said, “The first batch of 806 Haj pilgrims took off by four flights to Jedah. Similarly, 800 pilgrims will depart for Jeddah by four flights everyday till October 24. From October 25 to October 30, one flight will take off for Jeddah per day.”

It is to be noted that 8293 pilgrims will go on Haj pilgrimage this year from the state on the government quota.

Also, present at the airport was Haj Minister Aijaz Ahmad Khan to bid goodbye to the pilgrims.
