Guwahati: The fate of Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and six others will be sealed in the EVMs in the first phase of Assembly election scheduled on April 4 here.

State ministers like Excise Minister, Gautam Roy from Katlichera; Irrigation Minister, Nurjamal Sarkar from Vishwanath; PWD Minister, Ajanta Neog from Golaghat; Cultural and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Bharat Chandra Narah from Dhakuakhanal; Flood Control Minister, Prithvi Majhi from Lahowal and Power Minister Pradyut Bordoloi from Margherita will also try their luck.

The main Opposition Party, Assam Gana Parishad, in the first phase has fielded its ex-state president, Vrindavan Goswami from Tejpur; senior legislator, Padma Hazarika from Satia; Atul Bora (junior) from Bokakhat and Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya from Dhekiajuli. 

The voters will decide fate of Assam BJP President, Ranjit Dutta, who is contesting from Bihali in the first phase of election.

Mohit Hojai, who is allegedly involved in multi-crore scam and now in jail, is also in fray from Halflong constituency.

The first phase of election has to be held in both mountainous districts and Barak Valley besides upper Assam.
