Gumla: In a barbaric attack, Maoists raided a marriage function in Lauki Jamgai village near Raidih in Gumla district of Jharkhand killing five persons including groom on Saturday. Several people attending the function were even brutally thrashed by Maoists.

The deceased include Gurudev, his uncle Chaitu Oraon and village residents Jairam Oraon, Buddh Oraon and Somra Oraon.

On Saturday, a group of Maoists opened fire on Lauki Jamgai village residents. Maoists committed the heinous act suspecting them to be supporters of People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI).

Through a letter, the Gumla-Simdega sub-zonal committee of Maoists has taken responsibility of the criminal activity. In wake of the heinous crime, PLFI has called for a 24-hour bandh in Gumla, Lohardagga and Simdega on Monday.

Maoists set ablaze 30 trucks

On late Saturday night in Hazaribagh, Maoists attacked a road construction site and set 30 trucks on fire. Getting the news, police party was rushed to the spot of incident. The Maoist group attacked the police team. In retaliation, police team opened fire. In the cross-firing between the two, Head Constable Anand Mohan suffered serious injuries. A bullet fired by Maoists struck him in shoulder. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

The violence was reported near the camp of GR Company at the Morangi area under Mufassil police station around 5km of district headquarters. In the incident the GR Company is expected to face a loss in the tune of Rs 40 crore.
