The woman along with her three other colleagues surrendered in Kondagaon district, while the fifth member of the group surrendered before the Dantewada Police.

The Naxal-hit state has witnessed many bloodsheds attacks triggered by naxalities in the recent past.

On December 1, 2014,  fourteen CRPF personnel including two officers were killed and at least 15 other were injured in the Naxal attacks in Chintagufa area of Sukma district. The brutal attack took place a day after Chief Minister Raman Singh asserted the state will be 'naxal free'.

However, it was not the sole incident. On May 25, 2013, the ultras attacked a convoy of Congress leaders at Darbha Valley that left at least 27 people dead including former state minister Mahendra Karma and Chhhatisgarh Congress chief Nand Kumar Patel. Senior party leader Vidya Charan Shukla latter succumbed to injuries.

The Congress leaders were conducting a 'Parivartan Yatra' with a convoy of 25 vehicles.
