Indian mystic guru and a spiritual leader, Osho has innumerous followers from all over the world even posthumously. His views for sex made him controversial yet he retained his calm stature. His discourses on various subjects such as religion, philosophy and politics are included not only in his talks across the world but has also found recluse in his almost 650 books. He was a non-conformist by nature. He died at the age of 59 in the year 1990.  


Maharshi Mahesh Yogi


The enigmatic pull of this yogi attracted international celebs like the Beatles and the Beach Boys to become his disciples. His technique of transcendental meditation continues to retain popularity among people who wish to seek spirituality. Mahesh Yogi was also the founder of a number of schools, universities not only in India but also in United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Netherlands. He passed away in the year 2008.

Jiddu Krishnamurti


Unlike the self-proclaimed gurus of contemporary India, Krishnamurti repelled from being a part of any religion, caste or philosophy. He even claimed allegiance to no nationality. He traveled all over the world propagating rationality and also authored volumes of books including the famous , ‘Krishnmurti’s notebook’, ‘the first and the last freedom’ and ‘the only revolution.’ He died in 1986 at the age of 90.

BKS Iyengar

Iyengar was the first Indian Yoga guru to popularize yoga all over the world. He taught yoga to celebs like Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. His international royal disciple includes Elisabeth, Queen of Belgium. Famous violinist Yahudi Menuhin,Jayprakash Narayan and Jiddu Krishnamurti were also inspired to learn his yoga techniques. He died at the age of 95 in 2014.

Sri Sri Ravishankar

Lovingly referred as 'guruji', Sri Sri's idea of spirituality transcends any barrier of religion. He associates this idea with constant enhancement of love, compassion and enthusiasm. He is the founder of 'Art of Living Foundation'. He is an avid teacher of 'sudarshan kriya'. He has also taken various social initiatives forming NGO's and several free health camps. Peace and humanitarian work all over the world has throughout been his only agenda. He has been bestowed with several awards and recognitions in India and abroad.
